This Privacy Policy describes how HomeschoolOS, LLC ("HomeschoolOS", "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with our website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
HomeschoolOS, LLC is a homeschool management platform designed to help homeschooling families organize scheduling, track compliance and record-keeping requirements, manage curricula, and record grades and transcripts for one or more students. The Service is available via web browser and mobile application.

2. Scope of This Policy
This Policy applies to information we collect through the Service, including from:
Account holders — the parent, guardian, teacher, or other adult who registers for and administers a HomeschoolOS account ("Account Holder," "you"); and
Student profiles — information about minor children that an Account Holder creates and manages within their account ("Student Data").
A note on children's data: HomeschoolOS is intended for use by adults on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly permit children to create their own accounts or interact directly with the Service. All Student Data is entered, controlled, and managed by the Account Holder, acting as the parent or legal guardian of the student. See Section 9 (Children's Privacy) for details.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide to Us
Registration information: name, email address, password, and other details provided when you create an account.
Billing information: billing name and address. Full payment card details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe (see Section 6); we do not store full card numbers on our own servers.
Student and family information: student names, dates of birth or grade levels, curriculum selections, lesson progress, grades, attendance, notes, and other academic records you choose to enter.
Communications: information you provide when you contact support, respond to surveys, or otherwise communicate with us.
3.2 Information Collected Automatically
Usage data: pages viewed, features used, timestamps, and interactions with the Service.
Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and mobile app version.
Cookies and similar technologies: used to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and understand how the Service is used. See Section 7.
3.3 Information from Third Parties
Payment processor (Stripe): confirmation of successful or failed payments, subscription status, and limited billing metadata.
Transactional email provider (Resend): delivery, open, and bounce status for account-related emails (e.g., trial reminders, receipts).
4. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including scheduling, curriculum tracking, compliance record-keeping, and grade/transcript generation;
Create and manage your account and student profiles;
Process subscription payments, manage free trials, and send billing-related notices (including trial-ending reminders);
Send transactional and administrative communications (e.g., account confirmations, password resets, service updates);
Respond to support requests and communications;
Monitor, maintain, and improve the security, performance, and functionality of the Service;
Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorized access; and
Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell Student Data, and we do not use Student Data to serve targeted advertising.
5. Free Trial and Billing
HomeschoolOS offers a 14-day free trial. A valid payment card is required to begin your trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your card will be automatically charged for the subscription plan you selected (monthly or annual) at the end of the trial period. We will send a reminder notice at least one day before your trial ends. Payment card details are collected and processed by Stripe; see Section 6 below.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information or Student Data. We share information only in the following circumstances:
Service providers: We share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf, under contractual obligations to protect it, including:
Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing;
Resend — transactional email delivery;
Hosting/infrastructure providers — to operate the Service.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of HomeschoolOS, our users, or others.
Business transfers: If HomeschoolOS is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or a materially equivalent one.
With your direction: If you choose to export, print, or share records (e.g., a transcript) generated by the Service, that disclosure is at your direction and control.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember settings, and understand aggregate usage of the Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Service. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies.
8. Data Retention
We retain account and Student Data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to allow you to export records (such as transcripts), resolve disputes, and comply with legal and accounting obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data as described in Section 10. We may retain limited information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., billing records).
9. Children's Privacy
HomeschoolOS is designed to be used by parents and legal guardians to manage information about their own children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and children are not permitted to independently register for or access accounts.
All Student Data is entered and controlled by the Account Holder. By entering Student Data, the Account Holder represents that they are the parent or legal guardian of the student, or otherwise have the legal authority to provide this information on the student's behalf, and consents to its collection and use as described in this Policy, consistent with applicable law, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where applicable.
Account Holders may review, correct, export, or delete Student Data associated with their account at any time through account settings, or by contacting us at hello@homeschoolos.com.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which may include the right to:
Access, correct, or update your information;
Request deletion of your account and associated data;
Export your data (e.g., curriculum records, transcripts) in a portable format;
Opt out of non-essential communications; and
Object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@homeschoolos.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
U.S. State Privacy Rights
Because HomeschoolOS serves homeschooling families nationwide, this section describes rights available to residents of states that have enacted comprehensive consumer privacy laws. Not every right applies in every state — the specific rights available to you depend on where you live. We apply the practices below to all U.S. users as a matter of policy, regardless of state of residence.
Rights common to most state privacy laws (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Kentucky, Indiana, Rhode Island, and others as they take effect):
Right to know/access — confirm whether we process your personal information and obtain a copy of it.
Right to correct — correct inaccurate personal information.
Right to delete — request deletion of personal information we hold about you.
Right to data portability — receive your personal information in a portable, and where feasible, readily usable format.
Right to opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, and certain profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
Right to appeal — if we decline a request, most state laws give you the right to appeal that decision; we will provide instructions for doing so in our response.
How we apply these practices: We do not sell personal information or Student Data, and we do not use personal information for targeted advertising or engage in profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on users. Because of this, opt-out mechanisms for sale/targeted advertising are not currently applicable to our practices, but you may still exercise access, correction, deletion, and portability rights as described in Section 10.
California (CCPA/CPRA):
Categories of personal information we have collected in the preceding 12 months correspond to those described in Section 3 of this Policy (identifiers, account and billing information, commercial/subscription information, internet or network activity information, and, for Student Data entered by an Account Holder, education-related information).
We do not sell or share (as defined under the CPRA) personal information, and have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those necessary to provide the Service.
California residents may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on their behalf, subject to verification.
California's "Shine the Light" law: we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Montana, Delaware, Oregon, and similar states: Residents have the access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out rights described above, and may appeal a denied request as described in our response. Some of these states also require us to recognize universal opt-out mechanisms (e.g., Global Privacy Control) for opt-out-of-sale/targeted-advertising requests where applicable; as noted above, we do not currently sell information or serve targeted advertising.
Nevada: Nevada law gives residents the right to opt out of the sale of certain covered information to third parties for monetary consideration for those third parties to license or sell the information further. We do not engage in this type of sale.
Texas and Utah: Residents have rights substantially similar to those listed above, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out of sale/targeted advertising/certain profiling.
Exercising your state privacy rights: To submit a request under any applicable state law, contact us at hello@homeschoolos.com. We will verify your identity (and, where you are submitting a request on behalf of a student, your status as the Account Holder/parent or guardian) before fulfilling access, correction, deletion, or portability requests, and will respond within the timeframe required by the applicable law (generally 45 days, with a possible extension as permitted by law).
11. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. International Users
The Service is hosted in the United States and is intended for users in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service prior to the change becoming effective. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
